5 Tiger seniors were honored on a beautiful Saturday night at Toyota Stadium. It served as a galvanizing moment in as Georgetown dominated Pikeville, picking up a 4-0 win, and the Tigers 1st win in conference play.
Georgetown (4-4-1, 1-2-0) showed a speed and technical advantage from the opening tap. While Pikeville (3-8-1, 0-4-0) showed resistance early, it was clear the clock was ticking before the Tigers offense broke through. The flurry started in the 21st minute with a goal from Demi Siemelink. Libby Miller picked up the assist on the Siemelink goal, and then did her own scoring thing on Senior Night by adding a goal just 2 minutes later. Freshman Kylie Hudgins would make the margin, 3-0, Tigers just 5 minutes after Miller's tally. Hudgins strike from 30 yards out capped a 3-goal outburst in less than 7 minutes, ending any hopes Pikeville had of spoiling Senior Night.
Georgetown would add one more tally as Carson Smith placed a free kick perfectly into the upper left 90 in the 63rd minute. The ball froze the UPike keeper and everyone else on the pitch at Toyota Stadium. The brilliant strike capped the scoring on the night. At that point, the 5 seniors (Abby Keeton, Lyzzi Prigmore, Jalyn Vogt, Libby Miller, and Madie Sparks) exited the match one at a time, each receiving standing ovations from the terrific Toyota Stadium crowd.
The Tigers next head to Campbellsville on Wednesday night before hosting Lindsey Wilson next Saturday at 3:30pm.
