Pitching duel gets away from Tigers

Georgetown's offense struggled against UNOH's Carlie Hanes in Game 1 of the 4-game set and did so again in the finale. The Tigers mustered just 3 hits and were shut out 4-0.

Freshman Kelsie Hill proved up to the task through 5 innings, giving up just 3 hits, but UNOH broke through against Hill in the 6th. The Racers first 3 batters reached against Hill with 2 scoring, to break the scoreless tie and end the day for Hill. Emma Cummings entered in relief but the Racers kept momentum on their side. Consecutive singles made the score 4-0 before an out was recorded in the inning, with 3 runs charged to Hill.

The Tigers best chance to score came in the bottom of the 2nd inning. With 2 outs, Maria Fratangelo, Kylee West, and Destiny Wallace drew consecutive walks to load the bases. Kaylyn Barnett stepped up to bat but flied out to center, ending the threat.

Stevie Shephered and Mallory Myers combined for all 3 hits on the day for Georgetown.

After the 4-game split, the Tigers now prepare for an upcoming weekend series against Madonna at the Tiger Softball Complex.
