#6 Campbellsville Stop #13 Tigers on Senior Day

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The No. 13 Georgetown College men's volleyball team (18-8, 13-3 RSC) saw its seven-game winning streak end, falling to #6 Campbellsville University (26-2, 14-2 RSC) on Saturday afternoon in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.

Campbellsville defeated Georgetown in three sets: 25-20, 25-17, 25-23.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgetown started the match with a service ace and commanded a 5-2 early lead. From there, Campbellsville used an 8-1 run to capture a 10-6 advantage, one they did not relinquish the rest of the way. The Tigers kept the margin around five for most of the rest of the set as some clutch kills by Campbellsville finished off the opener, 25-20.

Campbellsville led from the start of set two. Four of the first five points went to the visitors as the Tigers made it a 7-5 game after a Luis Vivius kill, but could not pull any closer. Campbellsville pushed it out to a 12-6 game from there and closed the set with back-to-back kills, 25-17.

The third was the most competitive frame by far. After dropping the first two points, Georgetown stormed back and grabbed a 5-3 lead off a flurry of attack errors. From there, the sides traded the lead as neither could grab a strong foothold until the later stages. The Tigers last led at 21-20. After a Campbellsville timeout, the visitors used a 4-0 run to set up match point. After defending off two, Georgetown dropped the third, 25-23.
