Dobrowolski leads sweep to keep GC perfect-perfect in MSC

31 assists, 3 assists, and 3 digs from Kacper Dobrowolski led a Georgetown sweep at Rio Grande to keep the Tigers unbeaten in the Mid-South Conference.

The Tigers got to work right away. With the Tigers up 9-8 in the 1st, Dobrowolski led a 7-1 run to break the set wide open. He would finish the set with 11 assists on 13 Tiger kills. Georgetown hit .650 in the opener and did not commit an attack error in rolling to a 25-16 win.

The 2nd set proved a different story for the Tigers offense as they committed 8 errors and finished with a .071 hitting number. Although Georgetown took an early 4-1 lead, the Red Storm chipped away to get within 6-5. The lead would build back to 10-6 before Rio went on a 9-3 run to take a 15-13 lead. From there, the set would be tied on 6 different occasions. Georgetown had a set point chance at 24-23 but Rio held off. The Tigers would battle back and take the set as the trio of Dobrowolski, Tyree Wesley and Sean Bohler would reject a final attack from the Red Storm, giving the Tigers a 26-24 win and a 2-0 match lead.

Set 3 became a mirror image of set 1 for Georgetown. 10 kills and only 1 error with a .529 hitting number gave the Red Storm very little hope for a rally. Although Rio did hit a solid .333 in the 3rd, it just couldn't keep up with the Tigers firepower as Georgetown took the 3rd, 25-16.

Krzysztof Kowalski led a balanced Tigers attack with 8 kills and 4 aces. Tyree Wesley added 5 kills and 7 block assists. Reece Brown and Sean Bohler slammed home 4 kills apiece, while the quartet of Ryan Gunn, Tyler Chavez, Miguel Vega, and Liam Morrissey added 3 each. CJ Bride did his usual solid work on the back line with 10 digs. The win puts the Tigers 2 conference matches away from going undefeated without dropping a set.

For now, the Tigers will step out of conference and head west. They'll take on Benedictine-Mesa on Monday night at 10pm ET out in Mesa, AZ.
