GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Georgetown College men's basketball team is taking full advantage of its five-game home stand at Davis-Reid Alumni Hall. The Tigers routed the Life University Running Eagles, 90-62, on Monday, Jan. 31 for its third-straight win to finish 8-1 in January.

With the win, Georgetown (19-3, 12-3 MSC) draws even with the University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks for second in the Mid-South Conference standings, two games in back of No. 7 Thomas More with seven games to play.

The Tigers pulled away early in this game. Georgetown used a 14-2 run that spanned 5:07 of play in the first half to turn a 5-5 tie into a 19-7 lead, and never looked back. The Tigers' lead eventually ballooned to 27-9 on a Cam Brooks-Harris 3-pointer with 9:59 to play in the half, before Life (5-15, 2-13) rallied to cut the margin to 11 at the break, 40-29.

In the early stages of the second half, the Tigers methodically increased their lead, but with 13:24 to go in the game, Drew Lamont drew a shooting foul. His two free throws ignited a 7-0 run and the rout was on. Midway through the stanza, the Tigers mounted another lengthy run, this one a 16-0 spurt, that stretched their lead to 76-43. Over the final seven and a half minutes, the Tigers focused on running out the clock to take the 90-62 win.

Derrin Boyd was a shining star for the Tigers on Monday. Boyd finished with a game-high 22 points, and for the second straight game, he narrowly missed a triple double, as he reeled in 10 boards and dished up seven dimes. Lamont tallied 16, Brooks-Harris chipped in 15, and Jayrese Williams added 10 in the game as well.

As a team, Georgetown made 34-of-61 (55.7%) shots, including 14-of-26 (53.8%) from long distance. At the foul line, Georgetown was 8-for-9 (88.9%), and the Tigers held a 41-35 advantage on the glass.
