Lavinder Runs Eighth Fastest Time in Program History at the NAIA National Championships
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Georgetown College sophomore Elizabeth Lavinder competed in the NAIA National Championships on Friday, finishing the 6K race in 24:48.7, good for 266th overall.
With race time temperatures in the low 60s at Apalachee Regional Park, Lavinder managed a split pace of 4:15.6.
Lavinder's appearance in the National Championships marks the first time since Kirsten Geary finished the race 58th overall with a time of 23:07.8 in the 2023-24 season.
"It wasn't the result we wanted, but we made it, and she showed tremendous toughness out there," head coach Camryn Snapp said. "Running 24:48 for 266th in such a competitive field in her first NAIA Championship highlights just how far she's come. A great effort and a proud finish to an incredible season. Now on to the track!"
This season, Lavinder finished a 6K race four times, running her season PR at the Mid-South Conference Championships in 24:26.08, placing 9th overall and earning Second Team All-Conference honors for her performance.
Her time at the NAIA National Championships was her second-best finish this year, followed by her 26:05.0 performance at the Midway Invitational and a 24:55.0 finish at the IWU Twilight Invitational.
