Red Storm Stop Tigers
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College volleyball team (2-13, 0-4 MSC) fell to the University of Rio Grande (18-7, 6-1 RSC) in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym on Tuesday night.
The Red Storm defeated the Tigers in three sets, winning 26-24, 25-13, 25-11.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgetown got out to an early 4-1 lead and looked in control of the opening few points. However, a 5-1 run tilted things in favor of the Red Storm and they did not look back the rest of the night. Despite pulling within two at 9-7, the Tigers could not recover, falling 26-24 in the opener.
The Tigers took the opening point of the second set but quickly found themselves in a hole. Down 7-3 consecutive points once again pulled the hosts within striking distance, before a 6-1 run buried all hope. The Red Storm went on to win the set, 25-13.
The Red Storm came out in the third ready to end things. After winning eight of the first 10 points, Rio Grande was in the driver's seat to do so. The visitors ended the set and the match on a 6-1 run, winning 25-11.
