Georgetown kicked off its season in the Keiser University Chick-fil-A Classic in West Palm Beach, Florida. The opener did not go the Tigers way as they were swept by Faulkner University, 25-10, 25-18, and 25-19.
Georgetown struggled in the opening set finishing off points and had trouble recovering from there. The Tigers recorded just 6 kills in the opener, allowing Faulkner to build out a lead. The Eagles hit .467 in the first set to set a tone they would not get away from.
The Tigers offense came to life in the 2nd set, recording a 13-2 kill-error ratio, but Faulkner's offense was too much as the pace stayed with the Eagles, leading to a 25-18 2nd set win.
Georgetown continued to show terrific Tiger Pride in the 3rd set as the offense continued in its groove, pushing Faulkner deeper than the 1st 2 sets, but the Eagles had enough of answer to complete the sweep, 25-19 in the 3rd.
Olivia Recktenwald led Georgetown with 8 kills and 7 digs. The Tigers have 2 more matches on the opening day against #15 Dakota Wesleyan and Keiser University.
