(RV) Bulldogs Outlast (RV) Tigers on Senior Day
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's lacrosse team (4-10, 3-2 AAC) lost 16-10 on Senior Day to (RV) Tennessee Wesleyan University (12-4, 3-2 AAC) at Toyota Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first quarter saw the Tigers strike three times as Madison Diaz scored two of her four goals in the frame. TWU got goals from Aava and Olivia Downey to bookend the quarter as it was tied 3-3 after the opening 15 minutes.
Both sides alternated goals in the second quarter, once again collecting three goals apiece. Madison Diaz struck with just 46 seconds left to tie things at 6-6, heading into halftime, the lowest score at the break this season.
Hannah Voss opened the scoring in the third for Georgetown, whose lead was turned into a two-goal deficit after TWU connected for three straight goals. After fighting back to tie things at 9-9, TWU put the final shot past the goalie with a little over two minutes to go in the third, to take a 10-9 lead into the fourth.
Georgetown was outscored 6-1 in the fourth as the Bulldogs hung on for the 16-10 victory.
THE TEAM
Georgetown had 25 shots while TWU had 31. The Bulldogs held a 15-12 advantage in draw controls. The Tigers collected 20 ground balls and made 10 saves.
