No. 1 Ravens Defeat (RV) Tigers
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's lacrosse team (1-5) lost 25-5 to No. 1 Benedictine College (4-0) at Toyota Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ravens won the opening draw control and got on the scoreboard quickly in this one. Inside the first three minutes, it was 3-0 Benedictine who took a 9-0 lead after the opening quarter.
The opening two goals of the second quarter belonged to Benedictine before Vanessa Owens beat the Ravens keeper for the first Tiger goal of the day. The Ravens added four more goals in the half to take a 15-1 lead at halftime.
Benedictine added six more goals in the third to take a 21-2 lead before Madison Diaz scored with less than a minute to play in the quarter.
Georgetown found two more goals from Diaz and one from Hailey Voss in the fourth as it limited the Ravens to four strikes in the fourth, falling 25-5.
THE TEAM
Georgetown had 10 shots to 50 for Benedictine. The Ravens held a 21-10 advantage in draw controls. The Tigers collected seven ground balls and made 17 saves.
THE PLAYER
* Madison Diaz collected a hat-trick, scoring twice in the fourth. She also had two draw controls and a ground ball.
UP NEXT
The Tigers jump into AAC play on Wednesday, March 11, when they take on Columbia (0-6, 0-0 AAC).
First draw is set for 5:00 p.m. against the Koalas in Younts Stadium.
