2nd Quarter sinks Tigers

For 3 quarters, Georgetown went score-for-score with Indiana Tech on a crisp Sunday morning in Fort Wayne. The 2nd quarter was the difference as Indy Tech outscored GC, 8-0, en route to an 18-9 win.

Madison Catoggio, Aubree Lair, and Mac Miller all tallied goals in the 1st quarter. For Lair, it was her first of the season, and the 2nd of Catoggio. Indy Tech scored the last 2 goals to take a 5-3 lead after 1.

The 2nd quarter proved the difference as Indy Tech consistently found small openings in the Tigers defense and seemingly capitalized on every opportunity. Conversely, the Tigers could not find a path through the Warriors D to find the net. Indy Tech scored 8 straight to take a 13-3 lead to the break.

Georgetown got things turned around in the 3rd as they scored the first 3 goals, 2 from Miller and 1 from Maddie Brock, while limiting Indy Tech to just 1 goal in the period. The Tigers trimmed the margin to 14-6 heading to the 4th.

In the 4th, the Warriors scored 2 goals in the 1st 5 minutes to push the lead back to 10 and damage the Tigers hopes of a comeback. Faith Boa would answer with a goal at the 7:55 mark, but 2 more goals from the Warriors dashed the Tigers hopes. GC did get 2 late goals from Mac Miller and Madison Diaz to finish the game out.

Mac Miller scored 4 more goals, bringing her season total to 21 in just 5 games. She's currently the #2 scorer in the NAIA. Madison Diaz finished the day with a goal and 2 assists.

The Tigers next head to Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday at 1:00pm.
