Tigers finish off Michigan trip with 19-7 win
Georgetown College women's lacrosse finished off its first swing of what will be nearly a month of road games with a big 19-7 victory over Cleary University.
The No. 8 Tigers (3-1) were led by senior Avery Blackmon – two points shy of her in-game record – tallied eight goals and four assists. This gives her 44 points for the season, nearly half of her point record set in 2018.
Aly Case scored her second of three goals in the first half to put GC up 8-1, serving as the winning goal with 13:30 left.
Six different Tigers scored Sunday to cap the trip to Michigan. Rachel Kidwell, Sara Shawver and Morgan Ainsworth got time in the goal against Cleary. Kidwell had three saves, two goals allowed in 30 minutes, while Shawver played just under eight minutes with no saves or goals. Ainsworth finished it off, giving up five goals with no saves.
Blackmon won 13 of the 19 GC draw controls.
Georgetown started the trip off with a solid four-point win over No. 6 Lawrence Tech University. Blackmon had seven goals and two assists in that win.
The Tigers are back in action March 12 at RV Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan.
