Tigers Power Past Crimson Pride

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's basketball team (9-0) got back in the win column with a 98-56 victory over IU Columbus (1-6) in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym on Thursday night. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
Daysha Reid started off her 17-point night, scoring the first free throw of the game. After the Crimson Pride made their first field goal of the evening, the Tigers went on a 22-0 run to put the game out of reach. Seven different Tigers scored in that span, to help Georgetown to a 32-8 advantage after the opening 10 minutes. 

IU Columbus scored the opening basket of the second quarter before another Georgetown run, this time a 12-3 spurt stretched the lead further. Reid tallied nine more points in the frame as the Tigers took a 59-24 lead into halftime.

The Crimson Pride showed a zone defense for the first time in the game in the third, which limited Georgetown to just seven made field goals in the period. Daisy Gale added five points in the third as the only Tiger with more than one made basket. Georgetown took a 78-36 lead into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, Haley Dillman and Ashley Rojas led the way for Georgetown. Dillman added seven points while Rojas poured in eight on 3-of-6 shooting from the field. Gale made three of her four foul shots and Jordan Day added a bucket to give the Tigers 20 points in the quarter. Georgetown went on to win 98-56.

THE TEAM 
Georgetown shot 40.5% from the field. The Tigers were 10-43 (23.3%) from deep and shot 20-30 (66.7%) at the free-throw line. GC won the rebound battle, 57-41. The Tigers led in assists, 17-6, and had two blocks. GC had 18 steals to IUC's seven.

THE PLAYERS

Daysha Reid finished with a game-high 17 points with five rebounds and four assists.

Haley Dillman also touched double figures with 13 points off the bench, with 10 rebounds.

Ashley Rojas also produced 13 points off the bench with four rebounds and three steals.
