Reid Sinks Nine 3-Pointers in Win over Bruins

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The (RV) Georgetown College women's basketball team (4-0) won its fourth straight game, 109-60, over Carolina University (0-1) in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym on Saturday afternoon.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
Following up her 33-point outing last night, Daysha Reid did not disappoint to begin November. The freshman scored 14 of the Tigers' 24 first-quarter points en route to a 36-point day. The first basket of the game, a 3-pointer, belonged to Reid, who finished the game with nine treys. Reid played all 10 minutes of the opening quarter, helping Georgetown to a 24-19 lead.

To begin the second quarter, Reid hit a layup, and it was all Tigers from there. The Bruins pulled within two points, 26-24 at the 7:44 mark of the second quarter, but managed just nine points the rest of the half as Georgetown closed the half on a 26-9 run. Fueled by three 3-pointers during the span, Georgetown took a 52-33 lead into the locker room.

In the third quarter, the Tigers put the game out of reach by more than doubling up the Bruins. Reid scored eight points in the frame on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting from the field, while Daisy Gale added 11 on five made baskets. Georgetown held an 88-47 advantage through three quarters.

The scoring slowed in the fourth as both sides combined for 34 points. Reid finished her day with five in the fourth quarter as Addesa Miller connected for two 3-pointers to lead the Tigers. In fact, the lead ballooned to as many as 52 with just under two minutes to play before Georgetown finished off the game, 109-60.

THE TEAM 
Georgetown shot 48.3% from the field. The Tigers were 16-37 (43.2%) from deep and shot 9-16 (56.3%) at the free-throw line. GC won the rebound battle, 54-45. The Tigers led in assists, 18-9, while both teams had one block. GC had 12 steals to CU's six.

THE PLAYERS

Daysha Reid finished with a game-high 36 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field, while going 9-of-12 from 3-point range. She added in nine rebounds and three assists with three steals.

      * Reid nearly tied Shelby Beam's school record (10) for made 3-pointers set during the 2016-17 season.

Daisy Gale added 18 points and had seven rebounds with four assists.

Eszter Dioszegi just missed a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds.
