If anyone questions the validity of the Mid-South Conference women's basketball league, the early portion of games should remind everyone there are no games off. Every game Georgetown College has played has been a battle.
Saturday, it was the Tigers hosting the Lady Lions of Freed-Hardeman University. It went back and forth with not much more than a two-possession lead either way before the home team clamped down to pull out the 75-59 win.
Izzy Lamparty continues to blossom in her starter role, scoring a new career-high 23 points and snatching a career-high 12 rebounds. Grace White poured in 20, while Lexie Stapleton was a boost off the bench with 11 – three-of-four from three-point range.
Madison Darnell had eight points, five rebounds and three assists, while Sophie Smith chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds.
Georgetown has a bit of a break with the next game being an out-of-conference showdown with No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan University. Tip is set for 6 pm Thursday at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
