Lamparty leads with 18 as Tigers beat Bethel

Bethel University women's basketball had a fast start Thursday against Georgetown College, but the Tigers figured the Lady Cats out to cruise to a 69-52 victory. GC improves to 8-1 on the season and 3-1 in Mid-South Conference play.

The Lady Cats (4-3, 1-2) scored 15 points in the first eight-plus minutes, but the Tiger defense clamped down allowing just 17 over the next 20 as they wrangled control.

Izzy Lamparty got the start for the injured Cassie Colon and made the most of her minutes. The freshman scored eight of GC's first 10 points and went on for a career and team-high 18 points. She pulled down seven rebounds as well.

AJ Stevenson chipped in with 12 points, while Jazzmyn Elston was a boost off the bench with 11 points and three assists.

Georgetown is back in action 2 pm Saturday hosting Freed-Hardeman University.
