Lions Complete Sweep of Tigers
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College softball team (17-20, 6-12 MSC) was swept by Freed-Hardeman University (20-19, 10-8 MSC) on Friday and Saturday at the Tiger Softball Complex.
On Friday, the Lions took down the Tigers 1-0 in the opener before FHU claimed the series, 3-2 in game two.
The Lions won the series finale, 9-0, on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
In true pitcher's duel fashion, the opener featured four total hits between both teams. FHU received its first hit in the top of the first, a two-out double to left center field, before Tiger starting pitcher Kylie Miller got out of the inning. Georgetown got its first hit of the day in the bottom of the second when Haylee Stansbury connected for a single to the shortstop. From there, Kady Dennis led off the sixth with a single to right-center field. A leadoff home run by the Lions in the seventh proved to be the difference, though, as FHU went on to win 1-0

* Kylie Miller (11-7) took the loss, pitching all 7.0 innings, striking out three while giving up one run off two hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
A two-out homer started things off right for Freed-Hardeman, who went on to win game two, 3-2. While just five runs were scored, this game featured more hits as the Tigers connected for two in the bottom of the second. A scoreless third inning set the stage for the Tigers' two-run fourth. Two doubles put runners in scoring position for Taylor Reid, who cleared the bases with a single to left field. Freed's Myleah Hardy's third home run of the day pushed the Lions past the Tigers in the sixth with a two-run bomb to left field.

* Lilli Koch was 2-3 with one run scored.
* Taylor Reid was 1-3 with two RBIs.
* Addisyn Kelly was 1-2 with a walk.
* Elle Prewitt (2-4) took the loss, tossing 5.0 innings, allowing three runs off seven hits with four strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME THREE
Freed-Hardeman scored in every inning on its way to an 8-0 run-shortened Senior Day for the Tigers. A single through the right side in the first got things started for the Lions. In the top of the second, a leadoff home run to centerfield doubled the visitors' lead. A two-run shot to left center field with one away in the top of the third stretched it to a 4-0 game. Another single in the fourth scored two runs before FHU tacked on two more in the fifth. This time, a sacrifice fly was preceded by a single to push it to an 8-0 game. Georgetown left three on base in the bottom of the fifth, but could not extend the game further.

The Tigers move on to the Mid-South Conference tournament as the No. 5-seed. Lindsey Wilson University hosts the conference tournament at Marilyn D. Sparks Park from April 28 to May 2.
