#20 Cumberlands Complete Sweep of Tigers

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Georgetown College softball team (13-16, 6-9 MSC) was swept by #20 the University of the Cumberlands (27-13, 8-4 MSC) on Friday and Saturday at the UC Softball Complex.

The Patriots took down the Tigers 3-2 in game one on Friday.

On Saturday, the Patriots closed the series with a 10-0 run-ruled win in game two before Cumberlands took the series finale, 7-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE      
With two away in the top of the first, Georgetown's bats got hot. A walk followed by three straight singles made it 2-0 Tigers. Georgetown got two more singles in the second before being shut down in order in the third. Cumberlands tied the game in the bottom of the inning behind a running scoring double followed by a single. From there, the Tigers' bats went cold, collecting just three hits the rest of the way. Cumberland's only got one hit the rest of the way, a one-out sacrifice fly to right field to walk off the game.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME ONE      
Kylie Miller went 2-3 with a run scored.
Corinne Garmon was 1-4 with two RBIs.
Ainsley Herron went 1-4 with a run scored.
* Kylie Miller (9-5) took the loss, striking out six over 7.2 innings of work, allowing three runs and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO     
The Tigers were no-hit in game two as the Patriots scored 10 runs in the opening three frames to complete a run-ruled no-hitter. Ainsley Herron was the Tigers' lone baserunner in the game, drawing a walk in the top of the first. Cumberlands plated two in the first, five in the second, and three more in the third to collect the 10-0 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME TWO      
Ainsley Herron was 0-1 with a walk.
Elle Prewitt (1-3) took the loss, tossing 1.0 inning and allowing three runs and three hits with two walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME THREE     
In the finale, Georgetown managed two hits and was once again shut out. Cumberlands plated two in the first before Corinne Garmon singled in the second inning. Lilli Koch led the third off with a single before Cumberlands received a sacrifice fly in the third to grab a 3-0 lead. Another sac fly marked the fifth for the Patriots, who added three in the sixth off a triple, single and a double for the 7-0 win.

Corinne Garmon was 1-2 with a walk.
* Lilli Koch went 1-2 with a run scored.
Kylie Miller (8-6) took the loss, tossing 5.0 innings, allowing four runs and one walk off five hits.

The Tigers hop into a two-game non-conference series at Midway University (9-27, 8-20 RSC) on Tuesday, April 14.
