Tigers send senior trio out with a pair of wins

Georgetown College softball sent Kara Howard, Chaselyn Allgeier and Katie Young out with a bang – two wins on Senior Day. The Tigers (30-15, 16-10) won 2-1 and 6-1 over University of Pikeville to finish off the regular season. Now they wait for other Mid-South Conference results to roll in to determine postseason seeding for Friday's tournament in Bowling Green, Ky.

The trio went 7-for-16 with five runs and four RBI.

Allgeier got game one going with a single followed by a single from Corrin Robinson. Both eventually came around to score, the only runs needed.

Hannah Morton went seven innings, scattering two hits with one earned run with seven strikeouts. The lone run was a solo home run in the fourth, but that was as close as the Bears (25-19, 9-13) got.

Howard ignited game two with a two-run home run in her first at bat. GC added three more runs in the third to break it open. The home team added extra cushion with a run in the fourth.

Megan Brankamp picked up the win with four hits over seven innings and one unearned run. She walked two and struck out two.

Abigail James had a solid hitting day in game two, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk. Howard was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI in that game. Allgeier started the day going 3-for-3 in game one and got a hit in her first at bat of game two. She scored three runs.
