(RV) Tigers Go 2-0 in First-Ever Georgetown Duals

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College men's wrestling team made history by hosting the program's first-ever tri-meet, facing off against both (RV) Lourdes and (RV) Rio Grande, in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym on Saturday afternoon.

In the first dual versus Lourdes, Cofy Walls faced off against #20 Cole McKinley and lost via tech fall before Josh Sharron, in the 149-class, picked up the first pin of the day for the Tigers. After the Gray Wolves picked up three straight wins, Navarro Nanpuya took the 184-pound bout via fall before perhaps the most interesting match of the day.
 
#16 Marcus James squared off against #24 Ty Cobb in the 197-class. Knowing the 285 class featured a forfeit for the Tigers, James needed a victory to help Georgetown to the victory. James ultimately won via a major decision, 12-2, giving the Tigers the 28-27 win, the first home victory in program history.

The second dual for Georgetown and the final of the day saw the Tigers quickly defeat the Red Storm. Wyatt Payne picked up another forfeit win, and the Tigers won the 133, 141, and 149 classes via pin.

After Jeremy Mills dropped the 157-pound bout, Sam Daniels picked up a victory via fall. Keenan Shively and Doug Dittmer won via forfeit before Marcus James took the mat once again. This time, James picked up a fall in 1:26 to close out the scoring for Georgetown. The Tigers beat the Red Storm 48-12.
