No. 15 Tigers Sweep Past Red Storm

RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The No. 15 Georgetown College men's volleyball team (15-7, 10-2 RSC) extended its winning streak to four with a win over the University of Rio Grande (13-10, 5-7 RSC) on Tuesday night in Newt Oliver Arena.

Georgetown defeated Rio Grande in three sets: 25-16, 25-16, 25-14.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgetown took the first two points of the evening and never trailed in the opener, winning 25-16 behind a pivotal 4-0 run. The lead ballooned from four to eight, putting the Tigers ahead 17-9. Costly errors by the Red Storm yielded the opener to the Tigers.

The Tigers fell into an early hole in the second. A 5-1 spurt pushed them ahead, though, 7-5. Rio Grande fought back and tied things at 12-12 and the lead waffled from there. Down 15-14, Georgetown made its run. A 6-0 stretch put things out of reach for the Red Storm as the Tigers held a 22-14 lead. Both sides swapped points and Georgetown closed out the second, 25-16.

Rio Grande once again held an early lead in the third, but it was once again squashed by Georgetown who tied things up at both 5-5 and 10-10. This time, a 10-1 run all but ended things for the Tigers who strengthened a one-point lead to nine, 22-13. After an attack error gave the Red Storm their final point, Georgetown took the last three to finish off the set, 25-14.
