Vivius Tabbed NAIA Defender of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A day after being named the River States Conference Defender of the Week, Georgetown College men's volleyball freshman Luis Vivius has been selected as the NAIA Defender of the Week on Tuesday.

Across three matches, Vivius totaled 15 blocks, including 12 block assists and three solo stuffs, averaging 1.25 blocks per set. His impact was felt immediately in a four-set win over Oakland City (Ind.) on March 24, when he recorded six total blocks and set the tone defensively.

He followed that with five blocks in a five-set road victory at Brescia (Ky.) on March 27, providing timely stops in a tight contest that required extra points to decide. Vivius closed the week on March 28 with four more blocks in a straight-set win at St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.), helping the Tigers finish the week with momentum and defensive consistency.

While the award recognizes his defensive excellence, Vivius also contributed significantly on offense. He posted 15 kills on 28 swings with just two errors, hitting an efficient .464 for the week, and added three digs. His best attacking performance came in the sweep at St. Mary-of-the-Woods, where he put down seven kills on nine attempts without an error for a .778 hitting percentage.

Georgetown completes a three-game road trip at Rio Grande tonight at 7:00 p.m. before hosting both Indiana East and Midway on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
