(RV) Tigers Hold Off No. 6 Bobcats in Four

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The (RV) Georgetown College men's volleyball team (10-6, 5-1 RSC) won its sixth straight game, beating No. 6 St. Thomas University (15-4, 8-0 AAC) on Wednesday night in the Fernandez Family Center.

The Tigers defeated the Bobcats in four: 30-32, 25-16, 31-29, 28-26.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The longest set of the night and the first of three to go extra points went to the Bobcats. St. Thomas built out a 12-7 lead, which the Tigers rallied back to erase at 13-13. Georgetown was in position to take the opener, leading 24-23, but a kill and attack error shifted things towards the Bobcats, who closed out the set off a kill and a service ace.

On the other hand, the shortest set of the night went to the Tigers. Georgetown stormed out to a 5-3 lead and only trailed once at the 7-6 mark. From there, a 7-2 run pushed things to a 13-9 Tiger lead. Georgetown went on to win the second, 25-16.

After dropping the first two points, the Tigers rallied to gain control of the third set, winning five of the next six points. A 6-0 run during the middle of the set nearly put things away early as Georgetown held an 18-10 lead, which expired at the 23-23 mark. The Tigers held six set points before finishing things, 31-29.

The fourth set started poorly for the Tigers, who were facing a 7-2 hole early. After pulling back within two at 10-8 off a Jose Acuna Yepes kill, the Bobcats used a 5-0 spurt to push the lead back to 15-8. After Georgetown's timeout, the Tigers fought all the way back to tie things at 22-22. The Bobcats won the next two points and had set point, which Georgetown fended off with a Luis Vivius kill. St. Thomas had two more set points, which were deflected, and the Tigers finished things off in four by creating three straight attacking errors.
