No. 4 Tigers Fall in Three to UHSP

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 4 Georgetown College men's volleyball team (2-3) took a loss to close the weekend to UHSP (2-2) in the UHSP Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The Eutectics defeated the Tigers in three sets, winning 25-23, 25-20, 25-23.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Things started well for Georgetown, who jumped out to a 7-3 lead, causing UHSP to call a timeout. The Eutectics slowly chipped away at the Tiger lead, though and made it a 10-8 game. Georgetown claimed seven of the next nine points to capture a 17-10 lead, forcing UHSP to call its second timeout. The momentum quickly shifted towards UHSP, though, as the hosts used an 11-3 run to gain their first lead of the night since the opening point. After tying things at 23-23, UHSP took the final two points and the opener, 25-23.

Georgetown once again seemed in control of the opening moments of the second set before the teams played to a 10-10 tie. After a Santino Zucchiatti kill and a UHSP attack error, the Tigers had a two-point lead. UHSP called for time once more and put things together from there. A 7-2 run for the Eutectics set up an 18-15 lead. Georgetown could not rally and lost the second, 25-20.

Runs marked the opening of the third as UHSP claimed the first three points and Georgetown scored the following four. Both sides traded points and did not hold more than a three-point advantage throughout the tightly contested third. Late in the set, things were tied at 21-21, and then 23-23 before consecutive kills closed things off, 25-23.

Georgetown hit .060 as a squad, with UHSP earning a .184 mark. The Tigers had 34 kills and 31 assists. Georgetown collected one service ace and 36 digs.
