No. 4 Tigers Knock off No. 12 Hope International, Fall to (RV) Lourdes
SYLVANIA, Ohio – The No. 4 Georgetown College men's volleyball team (1-2) picked up its first win of the season over No. 12 Hope International (0-2) on Friday before being swept by host (RV) Lourdes (2-1) on Saturday in the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
The Tigers defeated the Royals in three sets, winning 25-17, 25-23, 25-21.
The Gray Wolves defeated the Tigers in three sets, winning 25-22, 27-25, 25-15.
HOW IT HAPPENED – No. 12 Hope International
After dropping the first point of the day, the Tigers were quickly facing a 5-2 hole. They used a pair of service aces to settle down and then later used an 8-1 rally to force an HIU timeout and take control of the set, 16-11. Despite the timeout, the damage was done as the Tigers won the opener. 25-17.
Georgetown got out ahead of things in the second, commanding a 7-3 early lead. Despite a set that was back-and-forth much of the way, the set nearly slipped away. Facing a 21-16 deficit, things looked to be leveling out for the Royals before the Tigers took six of the next seven points to tie things up at 22-22. Georgetown finished the job, 25-23, behind a bad set from the Royals.
The third set got off to a similar start for the Tigers, who used a 10-3 lead to put things mostly out of reach. The Royals pushed back and got within four, but never closer until late in the set. The Tigers' 20-15 lead was in doubt after the Royals capitalized on three straight attacking errors. Georgetown called a late timeout and always held onto its two-point lead, winning the third set 25-21.

Georgetown hit .279 as a squad, with HIU earning a .143 mark. The Tigers had 47 kills and 44 assists. Georgetown collected six service aces and 46 digs.
THE PLAYERS – No. 12 Hope International
* Santino Zucchiatti produced a team-high 13 kills with seven digs.
* Kristjan Unt also had double-digit kills with 11 while adding eight digs.
* Jose Acuna Yepes had 10 kills to go with eight digs and an assist.

Late in the second, the Tigers fended off four set points and even created a set point of their own at 25-24 before Lourdes figured things out for the 27-25 win.
Lourdes was in full control of the third from the first serve. Georgetown called a timeout down 11-2 and could not get things in rhythm from there. The Tigers got back within seven but ended up dropping the third, 25-15.

Georgetown hit .195 as a squad, with LU earning a .293 mark. The Tigers had 36 kills and 33 assists. Georgetown collected two service aces and 26 digs.
THE PLAYERS – (RV) Lourdes
* Santino Zucchiatti produced a team-high 10 kills with three digs.
* Jose Acuna Yepes had eight kills with one block.
* Ilan Weinberger had 25 assists to go with five digs.

The Tigers have nearly two weeks off and remain on the road for another ranked battle against No. 6 Missouri Baptist (3-0) on Friday, February 6.
