Men's Tennis sweeps Thomas More

Men's Tennis traveled to northern Kentucky on Saturday to take on Thomas More at the Five Seasons Country Club in Crestview Hills. The number of seasons did not matter to the Tigers as Georgetown took care of business by sweeping the Saints, 7-0.

The Tigers had no issues in doubles action. Matthew Smith & Chase Hechemy parterned up in first doubles and took the point, 6-4. Will Barnes & Alex Straiger clinched the doubles point for Georgetown with a 6-4 win. Andrew Kennedy & Tsugu Hirose added a dominating 6-1 win in their doubles match for good measure.

In singles, it was a tough road for the Tigers' top 3. In first singles, Leo Schirmer dropped his first set, 4-6, before rallying with a 6-2 win in the 2nd and a 10-6 win in the deciding 3rd. Will Barnes also needed 3 sets to pull out the victory, ultimately prevailing, 11-9, in the 3rd. Alex Straiger also had to go the distance after dropping the first set, 6-7. Straiger came back in the 2nd with a 6-3 win and a 10-4 win in the 3rd.

Tsugu Hirose had an easier road for his singles win as he quickly won 6-2, 6-3. Chase Hechemy and Stephen Taylor also rolled to singles wins. Hechemy won his singles match, 6-2, 6-1. Taylor took home a 6-1, 6-2 win to seal the sweep.
