Men's Tennis Gets Back on Track at Shawnee State

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - The Georgetown College men's tennis team got back on the courts on Thursday afternoon with a Mid-South Conference tilt against the Shawnee State University Bears. The dual was rescheduled from March 25, but the delay did little to slow the Tigers.

Georgetown (9-10, 4-3 MSC) ran into little resistance from the Bears (4-13, 1-6 MSC) as the Tigers cruised to the 7-0 win.

Georgetown lost only five games in doubles play between the three matches, as Cole Wilson and Parker Clarke, Tsugunosuke Hirose and Matt Thomas, and Andrew Kennedy and Chase Hechemy all grabbed easy wins to give Georgetown the 1-0 lead.

Only Wilson played both doubles and singles on the day, as Zach White, Logan Smallwood, Matt Smith, Stephen Taylor, and Jared Towell got into the lineup for singles and all tasted victory in the dual.

The Tigers will be in for a tough test their next time out as they play their final road match of the 2022 season. Georgetown will head to Columbia, Kentucky on Sunday afternoon to battle the NAIA No. 9 Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders (15-3, 8-0 MSC) at 2 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was moved to Sunday by the teams earlier this week.
