Men's Tennis Upends Bethel (Tenn.) in MSC Opener
GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Georgetown College men's tennis team returned home from a tough week in South Carolina to open Mid-South Conference play on Saturday afternoon against the Bethel University (Tenn.) Wildcats. The Tigers started quickly, and they rode the momentum to a victory.
Georgetown (6-7, 1-0 MSC) took the doubles point and nabbed a trio of straight-sets wins in singles action to take down Bethel (3-4, 0-2 MSC) 4-2.
Cole Wilson and Parker Clarke improved to 7-4 overall this season, and 6-3 this spring, in the top doubles spot, and Tsugunosuke Hirose and Zach White took a win at the second doubles spot to secure the doubles point for Georgetown.
Wilson won at number one singles as well, and Hirose and Logan Smallwood also took wins for the Tigers. Each won in straight sets - in fact all five completed singles matches were won in straight sets - and the Tigers took the win, 4-2.
Georgetown will wrap up a busy eight days on Sunday with another MSC tilt at 2 p.m. when they welcome in the Lions of Freed-Hardeman University (2-2, 0-2 MSC).
