Men's Tennis Drops Spring Break Opener
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Georgetown College men's tennis team headed south to begin their spring break trip on Sunday. They battled the Milligan College Buffaloes in their first of four straight days of action on the trip, but the Tigers were unable to find victory.
Milligan (7-2) took two of the three doubles matches, and they won two of the three three-set matches on the day to defeat the Tigers (4-5) 4-3.
Cole Wilson and Parker Clarke gave the Tigers a win at the top of the doubles lineup, but that was the only win Georgetown was able to find, and Milligan took the doubles point. Wilson added a singles win at number one singles in straight sets, Tsugunosuke Hirose won in straight sets at fifth singles, and Zach White took a three set win at number three singles. The Tigers had two shots to win the match in a third set in singles play, but Milligan took both of those matches to secure the win.
The Tigers will play again on Monday at Noon at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Club. Georgetown will battle the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners (3-1) at Noon.
