McKettrick header leads Tigers to win

It was an intense back and forth match all Saturday for Georgetown College men's soccer against Lourdes University. Each team just needed one of their shots to find the back of the net. Each shot kept getting turned away. The two seemed on a collision course to overtime for sure. That is until Alessandro Carnicelli crossed a beautiful ball past the Grey Wolves goalie for Jake McKettrick running on and finishing it with a header.

It was the sophomore's lone shot of the game and all the Tigers (3-0) needed to stay undefeated on the season and picking up the second win of the week. In order to get to the point of victory, GC needed Theren Handlon to turn away shot after shot. The sophomore goalie had eight saves, several diving, to keep the sheet clean for the first time this season.

Georgetown had chance after chance with 11 different players getting off at least one shot. LU came up with a few kick saves and timely defender blocks to make it frustrating on a few offensive opportunities. However, the team kept pushing and finally cracked the game open.

The Tigers are back in action 7 pm Saturday in their first road game at Clearly University.
