Ties have been the Georgetown College men's soccer team's nemesis when it comes to Mid-South Conference play. The Tigers (3-1-2, 2-0-2) have tied twice already and it looked like a rain-soaked game Thursday could be heading in the same direction.
Thomas More University came to Toyota Stadium for a tight contest. GC edge the Saints (1-4, 0-4) 2-1 with a second half goal by Nico Huidobro. It was set up by Jake McKettrick, who had two assist son the night.
He was part of an Ahmed Nossier to McKettrick to Joabe Barbose goal in the 27th minute that put Georgetown up early. However, late in the first half TMU found the back of the net by shooting high far post. Andrew Wahl's shot just got by a diving Jacob Roberts on one of the Saints only first half shots.
In the 65th minute, Huidobro pushed in the winning shot and the Tigers made it stand.
GC is back in action 3:30 Sunday hosting Martin Methodist on Senior Day.
