Tigers offense comes to life in 5-2 win

Georgetown College men's soccer got the offense going early and never looked back in a 5-2 win against Shawnee State University. One of the nation's best offenses has stalled a bit entering stiff Mid-South Conference action, but not Wednesday night against Shawnee State University.

The Tigers (11-3, 2-3) scored in the sixth minute. The Bears (8-6, 1-3) responded in the 20th minute, but when Logan Sparks scored off a Tyler Mapri pass it was all GC.

Georgetown scored two more in the first half for a commanding 4-1 advantage. SSU trimmed it back to a two-goal deficit early in the second half, but Luca Zellman scored his 22nd goal of the season as icing on the cake. This ties him for most in a single-season with Tim Lawrence in 1994.

Five different Tigers scored, which bodes well as the team makes the final push toward postseason. Noel Roman had two assists and a goal, while Seba Bocaz-Canales had a goal and an assist as did Sparks.

Georgetown has a game at University of Pikeville on Saturday, hosts Campbellsville a week later and finishes MSC action at Thomas More on the eve of Halloween.
