Three quick goals do in Tigers against Phoenix
Cumberland University men's soccer was able to capitalize on a few early lapses and finish it off with a penalty kick in the second half for a 4-0 win Thursday against Georgetown College.
The Tigers (7-8, 0-4) in less than four minutes midway through the first half got behind by three as the Phoenix scored quickly. It started with a goal in the 25th minute and was capped with a passing shot in the 29th minute. CU (4-4-2, 3-0) netted a penalty kick in the 51st minute for the final tally.
GC's Jacob Roberts nine saves for the game have him three from setting a new single-season team record. The sophomore has 114 saves thus far, two from tying Stefan Iverson's 116 save mark in 2012.
The Tigers are back in action Wednesday playing Shawnee State University. Kickoff is set for 7 pm.
