No. 18 Tigers Stopped by Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The No. 18 Georgetown College men's basketball team (18-6, 4-4 MSC) dropped a road game 86-76 to Campbellsville University (17-6, 2-5 MSC) in the Powell Athletic Center on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Julius Edmonds scored the opening two baskets for Georgetown, four of his six first-half points, before the freshman began dominating in other facets of the game. As the clock hit the 15:00 mark, Campbellsville held onto a 9-8 lead as things stayed primarily a one-possession game for much of the opening stages of the half. Bubba Leavell's 3-pointer at the 8:13 mark made it a 16-13 game and broke a nearly three-minute scoring drought for both sides. From there, though, Campbellsville's offense went on a 10-0 run to grab control of the game 26-13 over the next two minutes. Campbellsville went into the locker room with a 44-27 lead.

Georgetown scored the opening five points of the second half and showed signs of life throughout the first 10 minutes despite the reflection of the scoreboard. With 7:20 to play, the Tigers had whittled down the CU lead to just 10 (69-59), and with just over five minutes to go, Isaiah Mason connected for a 3-pointer to make it a 71-65 game. Campbellsville relied on its 3-point shooting to close Georgetown out, holding on for the 86-76 win.

Georgetown shot 40.3% from the field. The Tigers were 11-29 (37.9%) from deep and shot 7-10 (70.0%) at the free-throw line. GC won the rebounding battle 34-27, while CU led in assists, 25-17. GC produced eight steals to CU's five.
