No. 16 Tigers Finish Off Union Commonwealth To Close 2025

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The No. 16 Georgetown College men's basketball team (12-3) raced out to a 93-63 win over Union Commonwealth (6-10) in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In a game that featured just a pair of lead changes, and four total ties, things were sorted out quite early. After both sides played to a 7-7 tie, Julius Edmonds' jumper at the 12:48 mark gave the Tigers the lead, one they'd end up holding the rest of the night. In fact, Georgetown used an 8-0 run to stretch its advantage midway through the first half to 17-9 before Union broke a three-minute scoring drought. Led by Bubba Leavell's nine first half points, the Tigers commanded a 39-26 advantage at halftime.

Georgetown's 7-0 run to start the second half set the tone for the way the final 20 minutes would play out. The Tigers ended up shooting 21% better in the second half than the first stanza. Collectively the squad hit three more 3-pointers and one additional free-throw as they combined to put up 54 second half points. All 11 Tigers scored in the second half as well, as Georgetown went on to take a 93-63 victory

THE TEAM
Georgetown shot 52.8% from the field. The Tigers were 8-22 (36.4%) from deep and shot 29-35 (82.9%) at the free-throw line. GC won the rebounding battle 34-27, while the Tigers also held the assists advantage, 14-8. The Tigers produced more steals, 13-6.

Bubba Leavell led the charge with 18 points on 4-of-9 shooting with three steals.
Isaiah Mason added 12 points and poked loose four steals with three assists and three rebounds.
