No. 3 Tigers Roll in Second Half to Beat Pirates
PARKVILLE, Mo. – The No. 3 Georgetown College men's basketball team (1-1) picked up its first win of the season, 84-64, over Park University (0-1) as part of the Remy Williams Memorial Invitational in the Breckon Sports Center on Halloween night, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Much like he did in the season opener, Isaiah Mason fueled the Tigers' offense from the start. He had three points within the first two minutes, helping Georgetown to a quick 5-2 lead. Park held its largest lead of the half at 22-16 with just over 10 minutes to play. Over the course of the next three minutes, the Tigers cut into the Pirates' lead. Georgetown went from down four to up four in a span of two minutes, taking a 26-22 lead as part of a 10-0 extended run. Rashad Bishop had six of his 10 first-half points during the stretch as the Tigers took a 33-29 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Tigers steadily grew their lead. After both sides traded baskets for the opening two minutes, Scotty Browning connected for a 3-pointer to give Georgetown a seven-point lead at 42-35. After the Pirates brought it back to a five-point game, the Tigers' 3-point game got rolling and did not relent. In the final 16 minutes of regulation, Georgetown fired off eight treys en route to a comfortable 84-64 win over the Pirates.
THE TEAM
Georgetown shot 48.5% from the field. The Tigers were 11-24 (45.8%) from deep and shot 7-8 (87.5%) at the free-throw line. GC won the rebounding battle, 45-31, while the Tigers also held the assists advantage, 18-12. The Pirates held the edge in steals, 6-5, and blocks, 5-1.
THE PLAYERS
* Isaiah Mason scored a game-high 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field while also pulling down seven rebounds.
* Rashad Bishop finished off a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
* Scotty Browning added in 13 points and five assists.

The Tigers continue the Remy Williams Memorial Invitational tomorrow when they take on Peru State (2-0) at 3:00 p.m.
Georgetown closes the weekend of ball against #2 Arizona Christian University (2-0) on Sunday.
