Buzzer-beater ends Tigers' season
Another cold night offensively created a low score which has been problematic for Georgetown College men's basketball this season. In four of the Tigers' eight losses, they have been held to under 70.
Keiser University (21-9) did it to them in the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round Friday and pulled off a 58-56 upset win.
Georgetown (16-8) shot just above 20 percent in the first half, but warmed up to shoot nearly 50 percent in the second half. The Tigers struggled all game from deep – four-of-20 – but with 11 seconds to go and down three, Kyran Jones stepped up for the big shot. The sophomore took a pass from Jaquay Wales to hit his second three of the night with five seconds left. This seemed to set the stage for overtime until the Seahawks took the ball the length of the floor with five second to go and found CoreVon Lott in the paint for the winner.
Jones finished with a team-high 16 points and 14 rebounds. Wales had 10 points and seven assists, while Derrin Boyd had 11 points and eight rebounds.
