No. 17 Tigers hold off Patriots

Georgetown College men's basketball played its closest game in a few weeks when rival University of the Cumberlands came to Davis-Reid Alumni Gym Thursday.

The No. 17 Tigers (11-3, 8-3) were locked in a 65-65 stalemate with the Patriots (14-6, 8-6) with just more than five minutes remaining. Leading into the under six media the teams had been trading baskets in an all-out battle.

GC came out with a 13-2 run in the next two-plus minutes to help secure the home victory. UC did not go quietly, pulling within five a couple of times and four once. However, the Tigers made five-of-six from the foul line in the final 73 seconds to hold the Patriots at bay.

Chucky Wilson did most of the scoring for the majority of the game, tallying a new career-high of 28 points. Kyran Jones posted another double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds. Each player also had five assists. Derrin Boyd got hot late for 15 points with his seven rebounds, while Michael Turay came off the bench with a spark of 11 points.

Georgetown is back in action 4 pm Saturday hosting University of Pikeville.
