Tigers pick up big win over Wildcats

Georgetown College football answered a fourth quarter score with one of its own in route to a 17-14 win Friday. Bethel University took its second lead of the day after a GC fumble near midfield set up the Wildcats offense.

However, the Tigers (4-1) marched 78 yards on a five-plus minute, 12-play drive that was capped off by Zach Dampier finding Aaron Maggard for a 30-yard, winning-score. Chris Cline made it a three-point lead with his second extra point of the day. He also opened Georgetown's scoring with a 35-yard field goal.

GC finished it off with two interceptions to dash Bethel's hopes of a final drive rally.

The Wildcats (3-1) broke open the defensive affair with a 66-yard rushing touchdown. Davius Prather broke through the Tiger line and outran everyone for the early edge.

Cline's field goal was the lone score for the home team in the first half. The third quarter started with a seven-play, 72-yard drive that was capped off when Dampier found Jake Johnson for the 43-yard score.

Dampier was 23-of-42 for 246 yards. Maggard had seven catches for 116 yards, while Johnson had nine for 96. Isaiah Cobb rushed 20 times for 120 yards.

Georgetown enters a bye week before finishing the season off with a pair of road games – at Thomas More University (April 2) and University of Pikeville (April 9).
