Knights late rally upsets No. 21 Tigers
Georgetown College football has been several firsts for Kentucky Christian University over the past 12 years. When the Knights opened their stadium, the Tigers were the first to play in Grayson, Ky. Saturday night, when KCU debuted the lights, GC was there looking for a 12th straight win in the series.
It all seemed to be going as usual until the fourth quarter when the spotlight shone bright on Kentucky Christian. The home team outscored Georgetown, 23-10, on the way to the victory.
The Knights (2-0) scored 17 unanswered points, tying the game on a one-yard plunge with 3:34 left and hitting a 25-yard field goal as time expired, 30-27. The Tigers (0-1) enter the bye week to prep for a trip to Lakeland, Fla. to play No. 19 Southeastern University.
It was a fast start for Georgetown when JJ Ogbogu caught a 64-yard touchdown strike. With less than 10 minutes left the senior wide out hauled in another bomb for his second score of the night, putting GC up 27-13. He finished with six catches for 206 yards.
Between all of that, Jake Johnson pulled in a touchdown and Tyler Dummer hit a field goal for a 17-0 lead at the half. KCU got on the board in the third quarter, but things still seemed in the visitor's favor with a 10-point lead and a defense that had forced several turnovers on downs.
