(RV) Warriors and No. 2 Grizzlies Spoil Tigers' Georgia Trip

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgetown College baseball team (6-11) played a pair of non-conference games against (RV) Indiana Tech and No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett at the Grizzly Baseball Complex on both Friday and Saturday.

Indiana Tech beat Georgetown 17-4 in the opener on Friday morning before the Grizzlies defeated the Tigers 9-1 to close the day.

On Saturday, Indiana Tech won game three 5-3, and the Grizzlies took the finale 15-7 to wrap up the four-game set.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE      
Both sides scored twice in the second inning. Indiana Tech scored a two-run single to centerfield, and the Tigers via an Oakland Flodell two-run bomb to left field. Singles plated two more runs for the Warriors in the fourth before Tech added three more in the fifth. The five-run sixth inning made things a 12-2 game before Georgetown touched home again. Diondre Jacob grounded out and brought in a run in the sixth. Both teams scored again in the seventh while Tech rounded out the 17-4 Tigers loss with a three-run ninth inning.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME ONE      
Davis Johnson went 3-5 with an RBI.
Elijah Verge was 2-2 with a run scored.
Oakland Flodell went 2-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.
Chris Lenocker (1-3) started and went 5.0 innings, allowing three earned runs in the loss. He gave up 2 hits and struck out three.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO     
The Grizzlies dominated the Tigers in game two. Georgia Gwinnett plated three runs in both the third and fourth before scoring one run each in the sixth, seventh, and eighth. The Tigers avoided the shutout with an Oakland Flodell sacrifice fly to right field with one away in the ninth.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME TWO      
Davis Johnson was 1-4.
Luis Romero went 1-4 with a run scored.
Nathan Odaira was 1-4.
Nathan Beaven (0-2) took the loss, tossing 4.0 innings, allowing six runs off six hits while striking out four.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME THREE     
After a quiet first two innings, Georgetown got up two runs in the third. Brody Mangis singled in the Tigers' final run of the day in the sixth before the Warriors tied it in the home half of the inning. A pair of singles tied things up, and Indiana Tech hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 11th to win it, 5-3.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME THREE      
Elijah Verge was 1-4 with a run scored.
Luis Romero went 1-4 with an RBI.
Brody Mangis was 1-3 with an RBI.
Ashton Deskins (2-1) tossed 4.2 innings of relief, allowing one earned run off two hits while striking out three.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME FOUR     
Just two hits marked the first inning and a half before the Grizzlies broke through in the bottom of the second. Georgia Gwinnett put five past home in total in the second. A fly out brought in another run in the fourth before the Grizzlies made it an 8-0 game in the fifth with two more runs. Georgia Gwinnett added one more run in the sixth off a groundout before the Tigers got on the board. A leadoff walk followed by a triple scored Georgetown's first run. In total, the Tigers plated seven runs in the seventh, cutting it all the way to a 9-7 game after Oakland Flodell singled in two runs up the middle. The bottom of the seventh saw the Grizzlies tack on six, though, to win 15-7.

Sam Turilli (1-1) took the loss, tossing 4.0 innings, allowing six runs off seven hits with two strikeouts.
