Tigers Take Series From Cougars
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Georgetown College baseball team (3-3) played an off-campus series against Spring Arbor at both George Rogers Clark High School and Thomas More Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
Georgetown took down Spring Arbor in the opener, 4-2, on Friday night at GRC.
On Saturday, Georgetown fell 12-1 to the Cougars in game one, and followed it up with a 10-7 win to close out the series.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
A total of three hits were collected by both sides in the first two innings before Georgetown broke through in the third. Henry Cruz hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring in Aidan Jbara. An RBI double for the Cougars notched things up before Jbara singled home what ended up being the game-winning runs in the bottom half of the frame. The fifth, sixth and seventh innings went quietly before both sides added a run in the eighth. An error brought in a run for Spring Arbor before Jbara homered in the bottom of the eighth for one final insurance run.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME ONE
* Aidan Jbara went 3-4 with three RBIs, a walk, and two runs scored.
* Davis Johnson was 2-3 with a walk and a run scored.
* Elijah Verge went 2-5.
* Chris Lenocker (1-0) went 7.2 innings and struck out 13 while allowing just one run on four hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
Both sides combined for just two hits in the first two innings before the Cougars broke through with the first of their two five-run frames in the third. A pair of two-run base knocks and a groundout to second made it 5-0 Spring Arbor who added to its lead in the fourth. Henry Cruz grounded out to allow the only run to score in the game for Georgetown. Spring Arbor plated five more in the fifth, and one more in the sixth to cruise to the 12-1 win to even the series.

* Henry Cruz was 1-3 with an RBI.
* Aidan Jbara went 1-3 with a run scored.
* Elijah Verge was 1-2.
* Manny Meilan (0-2) took the loss, going three innings and allowing five earned runs off six hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME THREE
Another pitcher's duel started the series finale as both sides combined for three hits through three innings complete. Spring Arbor broke through in the fourth with a three-run blast to clear the bases. Georgetown returned fire in the bottom half of the inning with a Luis Romero RBI single. A Cougar sac fly plated another run in the fifth before the Tigers added two more off consecutive RBI singles. Spring Arbor tacked on another run in the sixth before Georgetown belted home six runs off four hits to take a 9-5 lead. Despite another long ball from the Cougars in the seventh, Elijah Verge went yard in the home half of the frame to cap things off at 10-7.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME THREE
* Aidan Jbara was 3-5 with a run scored.
* Hunter Hampton went 3-4.
* Oakland Flodell was 2-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.
* Mitchell Knight (1-0) picked up the relief win by tossing the sixth and seventh. He struck out two and allowed two runs on two hits.

The Tigers hit the road once again to take on Thomas University (4-6) for a three-game series on Friday, February 20 and Saturday, February 21.
