Tigers Bounce Back to Claim Game Two

Tigers Bounce Back to Claim Game Two

For the second weekend in a row, the Tigers would be down in the series after the first game. To continue the trend, Josiah Zamora would pitch the second game, as he would look to help the Tigers even the series up. Zamora would give the Tigers another chance to win, as he would go six gritty innings, as he would give up 5 runs on 10 hits. The key would be that Zamora would limit the big inning, as the most they would not put up more than three runs in an inning. Over the six innings, Zamora would notch a new career high in strikeouts, as he would get nine. Andrew Day would come on for the 7th, as the Tigers were up 11-5. Day would get hit around, as he would give up four runs in one inning. Once again, both Tigers pitchers would give up a home run in the game.

Four different Tigers would launch home runs in this one. Hank Schineller would tie the school record in home runs at 13, and two Tigers would hit their first home runs at GC, in Jose Cazorla and Enrique Morales. Josh Duarte would launch the other home run for the Tigers. The first two runs of the game for the Tigers came off of the home runs from Cazorla and Duarte. Schineller would also leave the yard in the third inning, where the Tigers scored three runs. The sixth inning was big for the Tigers as they would plate their final five runs. Nick Lopez and Schineller would both single home runs, Cazorla would plate another run, and the final two runs would come off of Morales' two-run home run.
