Tigers Fall Despite Lopez’s Big Day
Nick Lopez has continued his hot streak of hitting into this game. He would launch both his 7th and 8th home runs of the year. His first in the 3rd tied the game back up at three. In the 7th, his solo home run cut their lead to one. The Tigers three other runs came from a two-run single from Joshua Duarte and a sac-fly in the 5th from Jose Cazorla.
Three Tigers had multi-hit games, Duarte, Lopez, and Payton Rios. This trio combined for 8 of the 11 hits.
Heading into the final midweek game of the year, the Tigers were in search of their 25th win. Andrew Day would get the start for the Tigers, in hopes of replicating his success from earlier in the year. The first would not go ideally, as IUSE would put up three runs quickly. Things looked as if they would turn around after the second, but in the 3rd, IUSE would tack on another run, to reclaim their lead.
Ashton Deskins would come on in the fourth for Day, and work quickly and efficiently to start out. Things started out good in the fifth, but IUSE would hit their second home run of the game to reclaim the lead again. Pasquale DeFilippis would then relieve Deskins in the 6th. He would be the final pitcher that the Tigers would use, and be touched up in the seventh, when IUSE would add two runs with two outs. Deskins would get the loss in this effort, which moves his record to 1-3 on the year.
