Tigers Staff Dismantled by Union

In what ended up being a staff day for the Tigers, it did not go as planned. A staff day is when you have every pitcher go out, and throw an inning, in hopes of keeping the opposition off balanced. Justin Anaya would get the start, and only go the first inning. Things did not get off to a good start, as an error and two doubles would put the Tigers down early.

Andrew Day would be tasked with the second inning, and it would look as if it would be a scoreless frame, but some unfortunate calls would hurt Day, as he would allow two more runs.

David Souza would pitch the third, and would give the Tigers their first scoreless frame of the game. Souza would go back out for the 4th, but would be unable to get an out. Freshman Gavin Johnsen would then enter with two on, and allow four to cross, but two would be unearned, as an error would occur in the inning.

Junior Marshall Cuzick would then come out for his second appearance of the year, and perform the best out of the pitchers in the game. He worked a 1-2-3 in the fifth inning. He would go back out for the sixth, and give up only one run. He pitched to contact, and allowed for his defense to back him up. He would be only one of two pitchers to not give up a free base.

Junior Tyler Sipes would be on for the 7th, and would be making both his season and collegiate debut. He would also work a 1-2-3, while striking out two on breaking balls in the dirt. He wishes that the 8th would be as good as the 7th, as he would give up four runs, with them all coming off back to back homeruns. After the two home runs, Sipes would go 1-2-3, and set down the side, with the last being via a breaking ball in the dirt. He would be the other pitcher to not give up a free base.

Ashton Deskins would get the ninth, and he would give up the third home run of the game.

The Tiger offense would not have a good day at the plate. In the sixth inning, after the starters had only plated one, Coach Guite did a platoon switch. The guys who came off the bench ended up putting five runs across the plate. Hank Schineller would lead the offense, as he would go three for five, and plate two. Luke Lindamood also had a good day at the plate, as he came in for Lopez in the platoon swap, and had two RBI. Hunter Klingelhoffer and Chris O'Neal would plate the two other runs.
