Seniors Lead Rout on Senior Day
An 11 run first inning put the game out of reach early in the first. Six hits and six walks would give the Tigers an early advantage at 11-1. Chris O'Neal and Nick Lopez doubled, Jarrett Chapman and Joshua Duarte would single, an O'Neal walk, and a sac fly from Andrew Cromwell would highlight the scoring attack. In the third, the Tigers would put up another crooked number, and put up nine more runs. Multiple bases loaded walks and hit by pitches would give the Tigers some additional runs, along with RBI base hits from Julian Huerta and Duarte.
Fast forward to the 6th, two Tiger pitchers would get their first career plate appearances, and get hits. Andrew Day pinch hit for O'Neal, and got on base via an infield single. He would get a second at bat in the inning, but would ground out to short to end the inning. Pasquale DeFilippis would also pinch hit, and laced a single up the middle to score two runs.
Also, something you do not see often is Max Flock getting seven at bats in a game, and walking six times. His lone at bat where he did not get walked, he did get on base via a hit. He would reach base in all seven of his at bats.[
Johan Castillo would make the start on Senior Day, and would only go three innings in his shortest start of the year. It was planned, as the Tigers have a big time conference matchup in the middle of the week. The three innings would be enough to get Castillo the win, as he would move to 6-1 on the year, and have his ERA only move to 2.45.
Bryan Golnick and Finn Kaczmarowski would go the remainder of the day. They combined to give up five runs, and strike out three in their first appearances of the year.
