Timely Hitting Puts Saints Ahead

Timely Hitting Puts Saints Ahead

In game one of the double header, both starters provided quality outings that were enough for their teams to win, but Thomas More would outlast Johan Castillo and the Tigers.

Castillo made his 7th start of the year, and did what he does best. He kept the Tigers offense in the game for the entirety of his start. He would go six innings, and for five of them he was perfect. Through five, he had allowed no Saints to score. However, in the 6th, TMU was able to string together some runs, and take a 4-2 lead.

In the seventh, Ashton Deskins was trusted with getting it to the bottom half of the inning, so that the offense had a chance. A single and botched bunt put TMU in a great spot to take the lead. Deskins would give TMU the lead, but would cut off any chance they thought they had at extending, as he only allowed one to score. Deskins would get the loss, his third of the year.

The Tigers outhit the Saints, but the Saints had much timelier hits to make the difference. The  Tigers would scratch across the first runs of the game in the bottom of the third when Hank Schineller and Jose Cazorla would both get hits to plate runs.

It would not be until the 6th when the Tigers would get back in the run column, when Bryan Sanders would hit a sac-fly, and Julian Huerta's double to tie the game at 4. All but one Tiger were in the hit column, with both Joshua Duarte and Sanders having multi hit games.
