O’Neal Walks Tigers Off
In game 2 of the double header, it was an old-fashioned pitchers duel, as only a combined three runs scored. Justin Anaya would get his first start of the year. He would also give the Tigers a quality start, as he would go five innings and only allow one run. Anaya bobbed and weaved out of trouble consistently with his mixing and matching to keep Cleary's offense off balanced. Over the course of his five innings, he allowed five hits, three walks, one run, and struck out four. Christian Santillanes would come in relief for the Tiger, and continue the trend of shutting Cleary's offense down. Santillanes would go the remaining two innings and strike out five of the six batters. Santillanes would then move to 2-0 on the season and lower his era to 5.40.
The bats in game two would not get going as they would only muster up four hits over the seven innings. All four hits would come from the eight and nine holes in the lineup. Julian Zamora, Joey Lapolla, Nick Lopez, and Chris O'Neal would all have singles. In the bottom of the third, Huerta would score the first run of the game on a Payton Rios ground out.
In the bottom of the 7th, the Tigers had a chance to walk it off. Luke Lindamood would walk to get on with one out. Antonio Player would come in to pinch run for him. Nick Lopez would then come up to the plate with a pinch hit opportunity. Lopez would single and allow Player to advance to third. With two outs, Chris O'Neal would pinch hit for the Tigers. O'Neal would lace a ball to the shortstops right, deflecting off his glove and scoring the run.
The Tigers are back in action on Friday Mar 10th, as they head to Lindsey Wilson for some MSC play. Gametime on friday is set for 4pm.
