Schineller’s Two Late Home Runs Seal A Tiger Sweep
Hank Schineller would pick right back up where he left off from games 1 and 2 on Thursday. In the first inning, Schineller would single home a run to give the Tigers an early lead. Another run would be added on in the first thanks to a bases-loaded walk to Jarrett Chapman that scored Payton Rios. Another run would be scored in the 4th thanks to an FHU wild pitch. Fast forward to the 6th inning, the Tigers would be back in the score column thanks to two rbi-singles from Rios and Schineller, respectively. In the 8th, two familiar faces would be back leading the scoring cause as Rios would single home another run and Joey Lapolla would score on a wild pitch. Schineller would then come up to the plate with a runner on and send a ball into orbit for his 5th home run of the series and to tie the game at 9. In extra innings, Schineller would go the other way for his 6th home run of the series and the winning run.
Junior Josiah Zamora would get the start in game three of the series. Zamora would go four strong innings for the Tigers striking two out and allowing four runs. Jared Casebier would then come on for his first relief appearance of the year and get six outs for the Tigers. He would only allow one run to score while striking out two. Justin Anaya would be called upon next, he would only be able to get through one inning. FHU would score four runs while Anaya would be on the mound, but only one would be earned. Junior Mason Mortimer would be tasked with keeping the game tied for the offense. He did a superb job in his second appearance of the young season as he would go the remaining three innings of the game. Following Schineller's go-ahead home run in the top of the 10th, Mortimer would allow a runner on base, but would then shut down FHU by striking out the side to end the game. Mortimer gets his first win of the season and moves the Tigers record to 11-2.
The Tigers are back in action next weekend as they host Cumberland (TN) in MSC play. Game 1 is set for March 3rd at 2 pm.
