Offensive Explosion Leads to Tiger Sweep
A shaky start from senior Matthew Flores was not how he wanted to start his outing. In his first two outings, Flores has been a very good starter for the Tigers, but today he was unable to make it out of the second inning. 3 runs in the first are never how you want to start off, but when your offense is able to go out and respond and put up 4 runs to give you a lead, you'd hope to come back out and put up a zero. However, that was not the case as he gave up another run in the second to allow the Crusaders to tie the game. Flores day would be done after only facing 10 batters. Sophomore Justin Anaya would come in for his second relief appearance of the year and get the remainder of the outs necessary for the Tigers. The final line for the Tiger pitching was 5IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, and 3Ks.
Contrary to the first game, the offense carried game two to a sweep. In the bottom of the first, Jose Cazorla and Hank Schineller would both rbi-singles to give the Tiger a 2-0 lead. Junior Bryan Sanders would also add to the run column as he would hit a triple that would score two more, but unfortunately, he would be thrown out at home to end the inning. In the bottom of the second, the Tigers would be right back in the score column scoring six more runs. The highlight was a 3-run home run from Schineller to cap off the inning. Jose Cazorla would also hit a 2-run double in the inning and Jarrett Chapman would score another. In the third, familiar faces, Schineller and Cazorla would add two more runs for the Tigers, and lead to a victory.
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow against Huntington in Florence, Ky. They play a doubleheader starting at 1:45 with game 2 following shortly after.
